Recaping Our “Under the Sea” Adventure

This week the kids and I made crafts related to creatures that live under the sea, or more like the ocean!

Monday we began by making a good ol’ fish and a jelly fish with Part One of the adventure.

Tuesday we made coral and starfish with Part Two.

On Wednesday the kids and I made a king crab with Part Three.

Thursday we made a seahorse and a shark with Part Four of our adventure.

Today we’ll take all of the crafts we’ve made all week long and make a collage out of them in our last and final part, Part Five.

For this project we will need:

  • a blue or white piece of poster board (if you use white, you will have to paint one side blue before beginning the rest of the project)
  • brown, sandy colored, and green paints
  • a paint brush
  • glue
  • all of the completed crafting project’s from this past week

First, paint the bottom three inches or so of the poster board to resemble sand. Then, using the green, paint in some seaweed.

I did this part for my kids! To get the following effect, dab different color browns, tans, peaches and some white in various spots on the bottom three inches of the poster board. Then, gently streak your brush through the mess of blots in continuous up and down motions until all of them are well blended together.

For the seaweed, dip each side of your brush in a different shade of green. Working from the top of the plant, draw in the stem. Then, brush in the seaweed leaves by stroking down and inward towards the stem.

After the paint dries, glue the week’s worth of projects in various places. When you and your kids are done, you will have a memorable “Under the Sea” collage!

    Jessica,

I had to get back over here to see how this project turned out. Very cute and creative! It gave me so many ideas. Now it's just a matter of making time to try them out!
