Under the Sea Adventure: Part Three

On Monday we made Fish & Jellyfish. Yesterday we continued our “Under the Sea” adventure by making Coral & Starfish.

Today we are making a king crab, and for this project we need:

  • the crab claws template
  • a paper plate
  • red construction paper or a piece of white all-purpose paper
  • a pencil for tracing
  • scissors
  • red paint and a paint brush, crayon, or marker
  • glue
  • pipe cleaners, preferably in black or red but can be in any color
  • wiggle eyes or white paper to make your own eyes with
  • a stapler with staples

First, print and cut out the crab claw template, be sure to mark your cut outs either one or two. Then trace it on to the construction paper & cut those out too, being sure to mark those either one or two as well (you will need to know which is which later).

Then, color the back of the plate red and if your not using red construction paper, you will need to color your crab claw cut outs red too.

Fold the plate in half, then flip over to the inside of the plate. Glue the claws on and staple the pipe cleaners as shown in the picture below.

After the glue holding the claws in place has dried, glue the plate closed by folding it in half to seal it shut.

Then, Add eyes, pull pipe cleaners straight up to resemble antennas,  and decorate with other decorations as desired. Keep your crab creation for our final under the sea project on Friday!
